Dr Wee Cho Yaw (Chairman)

Dr Wee Cho Yaw was appointed a Director and Deputy Chairman of Singapore Land Limited (“SingLand”) in 1992. He became the Chairman of SingLand with effect from 16 January 1996. He is also the Chairman of the United Overseas Bank Group comprising United Overseas Bank Limited, Far Eastern Bank Ltd and their subsidiaries. He has 50 years of experience in the banking industry. He is also the Chairman of UOL Group Limited, Haw Par Corporation Limited, Pan Pacific Hotels Group Limited (formerly known as Hotel Plaza Limited), United Industrial Corporation Limited and Marina Centre Holdings Private Limited. He is also the Chairman of the Wee Foundation. He was the former Chairman of Overseas Union Enterprise Ltd.

Dr Wee received Chinese high school education. He is the President of the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations and the Honorary President of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was appointed Pro-Chancellor of Nanyang Technological University in 2004 and was conferred Honorary Doctor of Letters by the National University of Singapore in 2008. He was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by The Asian Banker in May 2009.
